Cílem hry Vynálezci Jižního Tigrisu je být hráčem s největším počtem vítězných bodů (VP) na konci hry. Body se získávají především vynalézáním, stavěním, testováním a publikováním zařízení. Hráči mohou také získávat body trénováním svých řemeslníků, rozvíjením svých dílen, výzkumem a ovlivňováním tří vědeckých cechů.
