『サウス・ティグリスの学者たち』の目的は、ゲーム終了時に最も多くの勝利点（VP）を獲得することです。ポイントは、巻物の翻訳、科学と数学のさまざまな分野の知識向上、3つのギルドへの影響力行使、そして長年の忠実な奉仕の後に翻訳者を引退させることで獲得できます。ゲーム終了は、4枚のカリフカードがすべて公開された時点で発生します。

The way VP flows from translating scrolls into different science tracks feels incredibly tight—every action nudges you toward a new decision. I've played three rounds back-to-back and still catch myself planning the next game before the table's cleared.
The rulebook took me about twenty minutes to get through, but once we started translating scrolls and chasing those knowledge tracks, everything clicked. We've already got three games in and I'm still noticing new tactical layers each time.
